High risk for type 2 diabetes.
A higher risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) was defined as: (1) first-degree relative with
DM or (2) previous fasting plasma glucose >= 5.4 mmol/L. Subjects
were consecutively included from the outpatient clinic of the Diabetes
Unit of the Hospital Clinic, who attended a diabetes prevention program.
None had known their oral glucose tolerance state before inclusion
in this study, and none was receiving a diuretic treatment.
